I collected this male fly on 25 june in Belgium, Haute de Fagne. I keyed it out as Campiglossa loewiana/plantaginis. Examination of genitals required to be sure of the species?

No. C. plantaginis can be readily differentiated from its bigger size and less contrasted wing pattern (as well as from usually reddish yellow body). So, this is C. loewiana. Take a look at John Smit's note about C. solidaginis (I believe you keyed it by means John's book)

Thank you for the confirmation Valery. I used John's book indeed.
