We are trying to learn more about these adult critters, So if there is anybody who is willing to tell us which species this is, and how you can tell, please be so kind to share your knowledge with us.

Some of these specimens have been collected along the shores of an inland brackish water on the isle of Texel, The Netherlands on 30 sept. 2011.

Ephydra?? Are you sure? Looks more like Scathophgaidae.

no, I'm not sure. I was just the messenger, my colleague David told me so....;). So if it is a Scatophagidae, any ID?
