Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Phasia landing... (17.08.11) --> P. aurigera (and barbifrons)

Hello!

The tiny Phasia barbifrons are very numerous here (northwest Germany) at the moment. This afternoon I could also photograph a bigger one (ca. 8 mm) on Solidago canadensis. Is this P. aurigera or perhaps aurulans? (I'm not 100% sure, if all pics show the same specimen.)

This one seems to have a more distinct 'M' marking on the thorax. So seems to be a different individual.

According to my records my earliest observation is from May-05, 2006 :). I have no photo of that unfortunately, but the one below is from June-14-2005.
But you're right: my earliest record of the second generation dates from August-28, 2008. All other sightings are from early September or later.
