Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Dolichopodid for ID, C Spain--> Medetera flavipes

This is probably the tyniest Dolichopolid I ever dared to photograph. Probably 2-3 mm long. There were swarms of them sitting on a tree bark. The first view is the best I could get for a general view with my compart. A miracle considering the size of the creature.

Taken in a little woodland by a marsh in C Spain on the 7th August 2011.

A croser view taken with a macro lense. Not the same specimen than the previous picture but it was part of the swarm of them.

Medetera flavipes Meigen, 1824, mass species in Mediterraneans (sister species are very rare)

Thanks a million to you both, Paul and Igor!! This is much more than I expected! Glad I took the effort to struggle to get some pictures.

And Igor, certainly, very common. No chance it is one of the rarest species ;)
