Hi,

Only one shot of this male (plus crop), is this correct or is there a confusion species?

21st June on Ground Elder flowers, near Lincoln UK.

Could Melinda be another possibility?

I'm not sure Stephen, I did consider Melinda but the face on that generally has a cleaner look and the palps are a brighter orange-brown colour.

I have pics of a probable Melinda viridicyanea from last year.. also some of a female which looks like Protocalliphora azurea and a male which also looks like Protocalliphora azurea but I didn't get the face of the male.

There's no pics of a male Protocalliphora azurea in the gallery to compare, but here's some pics of Melinda viridicyanea male from last year..
