Hi

Switzerland, 31.07.2011, about 2 km southern from Lake-Zurich, near edge of a wood, and small bond, 430 msm
Size: about 20 mm ??

Is it possible for ID from this pics?

That is an excellent Tabanus bromius

They are always smaller than you think: more like 15 mm.
