Hi

Switzerland, 03.08.2011, about 2 km southern from Lake-Zurich, near edge of a wood, , 480 msm, on my jeans

could this be a female of Haematopota luvialis, which is trying to go through my jeans?

Thanks a lot, kind regards, Brigitte

Get bullet-wearing jeans !

it is a female in the H. pluvialis group, but without pic of the abdomen, I cannot tell you more.

Hi Theo

Good idea, the bullet-wearing jeans!
Since ever I'm THE Party-Hit for all Insects which needs a blood-meal. Even Anthocoridae are happy about me. No wonder, that Tabanidae seems to be very big (for me) :S

Thanks for ID! Greetings from Switzerland, Brigitte
