Hi,
One of my flies from Niederthai (Austria, Tyrol) that I saw in last August is this Anthomyiid. My guess is
Pegomya, and as Michael Ackland says, there are about 40 species that resemble
P. bicolor. He gave us some important characters of the latter species in thread
http://www.dipter...d_id=11687, and I wonder if I have found the presutural acrostichal setae and the 3 equally long preapical dorsal setae of the hind tibia. At least I tried to photograph them! The palpi of my fly are not thus yellow, but Michael wrote he had seen specimens with darker palps. So how certain is the guess of.
P. bicolor?
Thanks for suggestions, Sundew

Perhaps Michael will come. But in the meantime my guess is that this is not
bicolor. I think one of the three strong setae you show is anteroventral. The posterodorsal seta to the right of the three strong ones seems much weaker. Hard to be sure though!

Stephen, you may certainly be right! Let it be
Pegomya spec. Michael is too busy to fight with our lots of photos, especially if their quality is poor. However, it is really a challenge for a photographer: "Ah, a grey and brown
Pegomya! Please sit still and show me your hindleg from the right angle!" The little ones are not at all cooperative - just the exact opposite of you...:D
