Hi,
This fly I photographed in Austria, Tyrol, Niederthai (1.500 m) in last August. The combination of such long antennae with the peculiar wing venation is a strange thing for me. The only family suggestion I have to offer is Dixidae (meniscus midges). Can this be confirmed?
Many thanks, Sundew

Keroplatidae: Macrocera

To the best of my knowledge nothing else in Bibionomorpha or Culicomorpha has such long, thin antennae compared to body size.

Thanks to both of you - this is a new and interesting family for me. Is this a female? Though it has only four legs, it might enrich the gallery.
