Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Sarcophagid

A note from the outset; I am very much a novice with Diptera; but an interested novice just the same. I keep a biodiversity log for my property and flies always vex me. So if I am too much of a novice for this site simply let me know and I will understand.

This particular fly is perched on sweetflag (Acorus) in early June of this year above a pond. I live in SW Ohio. I know it is not the clearest image but we're trying.

Sarcophagidae. Looks like the Amobia here, but might be something different altogether (what do I know about Sarcophagidae, after all).
