Hello,

i found this nice tabanid on a marshy area (wet grassland). I think it belongs to the genus Haematopoda?

Location: Braunschweig (Germany; Lower-Saxony); June 2011

Haematopota males are very difficult for me. Your animal is very probably H. pluvialis.

Hello Libor,

thank you very much for your advice! I looked only on the females of H. pluvialis, but i unfortunately haven't thought that this could be a male.

Best regards
Stefan

In all our Tabanids: eyes widely separated = females, eyes broadly touching = males.
