Hallo!
It was found in south Karelia, this summer. I also have photos with other sides if it can help.

These are very nice pictures of Tipula (Odonatisca) nodicornis nodicornis Meigen, 1818, a species widespread in Europe.
See http://ip30.eti.uva.nl/ccw/ for more details on this species.
Please allow usage of pictures for the CCW website (if so, please mail permission to p.oosterbroek@chello.nl).
Thanks in advance.

I agree, very nice photos! The species in question is also very interesting. I have studied Finnish fauna rather intensively during 10 years, and found this species rather seldom. There are some recent records from sandy river banks of large rivers (Teno in Utsjoki, North Finland) and from an exposed esker from southern Finland. The species is classified VU in Finnish Red List (Penttinen et al. 2010).

PS exposed was perhaps confusing word in this connection. I mean open, disturbed, non-wooded. This collecting site is a military area, used in manoeuvres (by local detachment).
