I found this dolichopodidae fly yesterday in damp woodland in England. Is it possible to say which species?
Thanks.

Many thanks Igor. Could it possibly be perplexa? I've searched the gallery and the leg colour and pattern fits.

Dear Dave,
I can assure you that this is not Argyra perplexa, which has, to my knowledge (and I know the species), entirely pale femora, except for the hind ones). Size matters as A. perplexa is one of the smaller European species as well as the presence or absence of setae on the scutellum. But some Argyra females remain very hard to identify.
Cheers,
Marc
