I'm drawing a blank on this one - seen today in south Oxfordshire, sitting on foliage in downland. With the protruding mouth edge all I can think of is Eriothrix prolixa but it looked very large for that species ... where am I going wrong? :)

Well, I was hoping that it would be right ... but I had doubts because it is still quite a rare species in the UK :D Thanks for confirming it though ... I really couldn't think of anything else with a protruding mouth edge and that looked like that :)

I can't be 100 % sure from this one pic, but it sure does look like Eriothrix prolixa.

We have had the species on the reserve before, so I plan to go back up there either today or at the weekend and do some collecting. I will see if I can get a net on one ;)
