Can this small, about 5-6 mm, Lauxaniidae fly be named...?
It was in the evening at my kitchentable...:)

Looks like a Chyromyia species (Chyromyiidae).

Hello Stephane, thank you for your reaction!
We have no Chyromyiidae in our register list, is it then a Lauxaniidae spec....?

Regards,
Hedy

Hello Hedy,

Try Chyromyidae instead of Chyromyiidae and you will see there are three species of this family in the Dutch list.

Hello Jan Willem and Stephane,

I'm only working at our Dutch register system called "www.waarneming.nl". Mostly all the insects are there and I am happy to contribute to see which insects are in Holland.
But, on this register list even "Chyrom", doesn't give a hit. Maybe I must ask it to a administrator, but I'm no hero to that. :|
So, can I park it with Lauxaniidae spec...?

Regards,
Hedy

Lauxaniidae have nothing to do with Chyromyidae. They aren't in the same Superfamily : Lauxaniidae belongs to theLauxanioidea superfamily, Chyromyidae to the Sphaeroceroidea.

Funny, they look alike, and yet so different...
Also in Diptera gallery I cannot find Chyromyidae....
Thanks again for your reply Stephane!

Hedy
