That is a male in the cordiger group, to say the least.

It looks like cordiger, but it seems I see an eyeband (below the large facets).

COuld you confirm / deny this ?

Sorry, I tried to ask if there is an EYEBAND just below the large facets.
I cannot judge this from 1 picture, play with the light if you see any.

Thanks

I misunderstood because my English is poor.
Yes there is a band between large and small facets.

Need to think about this.
Cordiger does not have an eyeband.

Maybe Tabanus maculicornis?

No no, it is clearly cordiger group, with the black antenna, bold palpus with white hairs and strong parafacial band.
Actually, it is cordiger indeed.

The eyeband if present should be lower than the one indicated here. So we have been fooled by some reflection. With one eyeband, you would have T. leleani, which possesses even a bigger head and a darker abdomen.
Finally, T. briani has no eyeband but reddish antenna.

So, T. cordiger it is, all along.
