Hello,

This bright little spark was jumping in the air and landing on the side of a bird bath, it doesn't look like a Musca to me.

22nd April, my garden near Lincoln UK.

Janet :)

It seems to be an Amobia, Sarcophagidae. No wasps around ?

Aha, that rings a bell! I had one last year but it was probably the other sex, a female? The colouring is different.

And, in between getting this fly there appeared another one which is probably a female! I hadn't noticed it was different until editing.

I have plenty of wasps about, is there one in particular it is interested in? There was none I could see at the time but there could have been a mating in mind. ;)

The other fly, the only shot I got of it but it looks more like the one I had last year.

Thanks Chris, it sure didn't look like a 'standard' Sarcophaga. I'll change the title.
