UK, Surrey. 24th April 2010. Open oak woodland on sand.
size 7mm.
I think
Phorocera obscura. Found on low vegetation.

Yeah, the genitalia on these things is very distinctive :) Funnily enough, I never seem to find
P.obscura (the one that seems common in mainland Europe) but I did get 2
P.assimilis last year :)

judging by the worn wings, this one was about in early April

Yes, I probably missed loads this year because it has been so warm & dry. Today I saw virtually all of the Spring butterflies on the wing - all about 2-3 weeks early.
