a) I don't think they are the same. b)a slide mount is the only sure way to an identification, and if female, not even then. If you want to put all your psychodids into alcohol and send them to me I can attempt an identification.

May I suggest that in the future, you give BOLD a leg (+ part of the thorax if the animal is very small), and then send the rest of the specimen to Phil? I am only sending them legs from my specimens, at least.

Yes I do send just a leg, but it is a stipulation that the specimen reside in a recognized collection somewhere. The Australian Museum was taking my specimens, but won't take them any more. So I now send them to BOLD in Canada.

Which is not to say I wouldn't send them back ! However you do have particular (some would say peculiar) rules about sending Australian fauna abroad...

I don't have to worry about the rules, BOLD send me an export permit.
