Sardinia, 2nd April 2011, flowery grassland. This looked like a very ordinary calliphorid until it flew...

I think Gonia atra. Should be an Autumn Gonia sp? but I see Jorge had a Spring one in 2008 ---

Also, I see that some of the other sp. can have melanistic forms...

yes, that looks right.

Chris, it is in Mesnil in Lindner as Redia atra.
