Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Medium sized Bibio from 18.04.11 --> B. varipes

Hello!

Besides the small B. johannis (5 mm) and large marci (10 mm) - see below - I also found a couple of 7-8 mm. But other than Janet's the male does not have red legs.

All yesterday afternoon at forest border, northwest Germany.

Interesting. A more special species, either varipes or reticulatus, I can't tell.

The thorax is blackhaired,which contradicts reticulatus.

So varipes is my best guess
