This Drosophilid ate a big hole in the very slender stalk of a coral fungus.

Dark forest, elevation 330 meters, West Virginia USA, 31 July 2010, measured 3.1 mm to apex of wings.

Is this genus Drosophila?

The fly is a Drosophila, indeed.
