is this correct?
found on a meadow in a forest in august.

Cylindromyia - yes ...
brassicaria ... no, I don't think so - I think I see a pv-bristle on the hind tibia, which would suggest something like
auriceps ... but again, not easy to say which species :)

I don't think you can make a good assessment of the positions of the bristles from these pictures.
On the other hand, the second picture ''clearly'' shows a basal scutellar bristle.
So it must be something in the vicinity of C. brassicaria. There are several very similar species.

Yeah, the top leg on the second photo shows 2 bristles pointing away from each other and ventrally. It's possible that I'm being misled by the angle but if that were the case then the most likely explanation would be that one was the pv-bristle ... but I agree, it isn't all that clear from the photos :)
