Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tabanidae -> Hybomitra caucasica

Hello,

this tabanidae ist from last july from switzerland. It was about 15mm long. Can it be identified? Perhaps genus Hybomitra?

Yes, it is a male Hybomitra, most likely aterrima or caucasica.

IF this is it,(no more pictures ?) ......

Pity we can't see the palps (which are short in males), but given the lack of darkening on the wing I'm pretty sure (though not dead sure) that it is caucasica
