This specimen has a modest row of meral bristles and a respectable subscutellum I think, but it is much longer-legged than any tachinid I have come across so far. Also the head profile is extreme, so deep yet narrow, with long microscopically pubescent arista that is at least twice the length of the third antennal segment. The vibrissi are perched high up the face. The tachinid keys fails me at the point requiring the scutellar bristles to be present for examination - none are left intact. There are 3 dorso centrals both pre- and post-sutural. The palps have long bristles on them. The haltere is conspicuously bright orange. Some guidance on its broad rewlationships would be appreciated. I am more than happy to try to work out the species myself but I'm stuck at the moment.
