Hi
is it "Haematopota"? is it possible for species? Only this pic available.
Switzerland, 2009, 11.07.09, about 960 msm, highmoor near Lake Zurich

Yes, it is Haematopota sp. male. Quite impossible genus, so unlikely to get certainty about the species

WEll, this one is very black with very black antennae, so if that is not a trick of the light, this must be the male of H. crassicornis.

Hi Ruud
Thank you for confirmation!
Hi Theo
Pic was only with available light, no flash. Comparing with the blade of grass, the colour of the tabanidae is very grey/black (head/antennae). Only the wings shows "warmer" colours. "Calibration" of colours in my camera is set on "natural", so no "warm" colour should be added. Thank you!
Best regards, Brigitte
