Can anyone identify this fly more...?
I have only this picture made 27-7-2010 in Zeist, Holland

Yup ... Siphona spp. are incredibly difficult, even with a specimen :(

Yet, this one looks interesting:

strong marginal setae on syntergite 1&2 and narrow parafacial: so no S. geniculata. Might have been S. setosa.

We willl never know....
