5.5 mm, Clitheroe UK, 22 May 2010
The preapical bristle has gone from f3 on this side, but the scar is there, and the other side has 2. There are 6 dcs. Does
R. riparium seem OK? (The name seems to imply that they are found near rivers; this was in long grass about 500m from the river. I collected another female in the same place the day before.)
I'm experimenting with focus stacking, so there may be puzzling artefacts in the image.

Dear Stephen,
The picture is just fine, no problem. The identification is another matter, certainly in the case of some Rhaphium females. I would not try to suggest any species name myself, as in most cases, one can never be sure unless males are found associated. But don't give up.
Cheers,
Marc

Thanks Marc. I'm happy to have the genus confirmed. I'll keep looking for a male when the season gets going! (Can it, Roger - it's none of your business what I get up to in my leisure time :@)
Stephen.
