Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Sarcophagidae Nyctia halterata? female

Hi!

There's only pics of males of this in the gallery, is this correct? I'm sure it was a small fly maybe 4mm, but I haven't marked the size. It moved in a jerking fashion while it licked up whatever there was on the leaf.

11th June 2010, my garden near Lincoln UK.

Thanks Chris! I'll put one in the gallery, not sure which is best. The first looks good but the second pic shows the legs better.

Hmm, yeah hard to say really - they both show the salient bits though - the way that the median vein is strongly concave after the bend and the dark costal part ... a better photo might show the absence of subscutellum but then I doubt you'd get the rest in ;)

I got another pic 3 days later, is this better? It was difficult enough to take decent shots of without getting the subscutellum! :S
