Hi,

I found some of these when I went trough my Calliphoridae from last summer. The bare arista makes me wonder..., but what else could this beautiful blue fly be ? May 21. 2010 Helsinki, Finland

In fact it does, so Tachinidae. Somewhere near Chrysomopsis aurata maybe ...

Palps yellow = Chrysosomopsis ... brown/black = Gymnocheta :)

And the winner is ....... Gymnocheta viridis :D Not very rare but a new one for me anyway. Thank's Chris.

Haha - good for you! :D They're on every tree and fence post here in early Spring ... usually my first tachinid of the year ;) They can be quite variable in colour - your photo looks quite blue but in life they are often green so I wonder if being in alcohol might change the colour a bit.
