Thread subject: Diptera.info :: predator of mealybug eggs

Hello

I found small larvae of Diptera preying on eggs of mealybugs (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) last June and July 2010 in Valencia, Spain. I got one of them to evolve to adult. Sorry, I have only parts of the insect.

I include six pintures. Pic 4 is the hind leg and pic 5 the medium leg.

Any clue about its identity will be welcomed. Thanks

Leucopis sp., Chamaemyiidae. I guess you would need the male genitalia for positive ID.
