This fly came to light in my garden in Lelystad (NL) beginning of July. I thought it to be
H. ciureai, but others suggested
H. tropica or
H. distinguenda (or maybe
H. muehlfeldi). Is a definite choice possible?

Strongly enlarged upper facettes, yellowish notopleural lobes and first antennal segment = H. ciureai male for me.

Yes, I'd say, trust more on yourself and less on others !!
