Hi,

Any chance for an ID of this well-fed Sarcophagidae female? Only one picture..

22nd January 2010 rainforest Paraty-Brazil.

It looks like a male to me, and I don't think it is Sarcophaga. Others may be able to say more.

I'm far from an expert on these, but the bluish tinge on the thorax could be a clue? I recently put a Sarcophagidae for ID which had a bluish tinge,

Ravinia belforti is a species coming up in searches for Brazil.

Now wait for the real experts.. ;)

It certainly looks like yours Janet!
Never thought it being a male! Must be one of these exceptions on the distance of the eyes then..

A pity I don't have more pictures, but I remember it being a big fly!
