Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Drosophilidae? Drosophila sp.

Hi,

I had this marked as 5mm, I'm not sure about that. Taken on 9th February 2010 inside, near Lincoln UK.

The thorax doesn't look like Scaptomyza I see in the gallery, could it be Drosophila sp.?

Drosophila, indeed. might be a species of the virilis/littoralis group if it is a big one.

Thank you Paul. I do remember mentally noting the size before I took it outside so I feel 5mm is correct, at that time of year there was little else about to confuse my memory!

I have searched for more information on these, apart from a couple of previous posts here where fuscated cross veins was mentioned I found some interesting stuff so will link them here.

My fly doesn't have fuscated cross veins, would it more likely be in the D. littoralis group? The pdf gives a lot of history on that subject!
