Hello,

I have had males which are likely to be Hebecnema umbratica, can this be said to be the female? I have lightened the pics to show detail, it was more dark brown in appearance.

15th November. my garden near Lincoln UK.

2 pics + 1 crop

Janet :)

Black halters would indicate Hebecnema nigra.

Thank you Stephane! Apart from black halteres; 4 post suture dc, white parafacial, feathered antennae, entirely black legs, no prealar setae, no pd on hind tibia and virtually bare eyes. Also wings more or less smoky.

Did I get all those points? I've been looking back through old threads! Good for future reference. :D
