Can anyone confirm Gerard Pennard's guess that this Merodon sp. is M. clavipes http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=30702 or are there simply too many similar Merodons in the Mediterranean/ on Corsica to be sure?
I was considering posting it in the gallery (there are no images for M clavipes), but the ID is too uncertain at the moment!

I can confirm my own suggestion :D:D
I'm quite sure this is the male of merodon clavipes, look at these pictures made by me at this French website:

Many thanks Gerard, for confirming your initial guess. I can see my flies match your specimens very well. I'll post my images for the gallery soon as there are none of clavipes up yet.
