Hello!

I saw one other post recently which looked like this, and was said to be Phytosciara sp.

Is this correct, and if so is a species possible? Size ~5mm.

6th November, on Ivy, my garden near Lincoln UK.

I was wondering about Phytosciara halterata, in the sub-genus Phytosciara as that is the only species included there, but there are other Phytosciara species in other sub-genus sections. I have Ranunculus which P. halterata leaf mines, there is some nearby at the water's edge where the Ivy is.

Female sciarid = impossible (sorry for the negative vibes, but some things are just not meant to be...)

Doesn't my fly look like the one in this thread?

xylo seemed to be quite certain there was only one sciarid which resembled Mycetophilidae.
