Hi, this diptera was found on 24.09.2010 at forest edge in Mentana near Rome (Italy). Could you please help me in identifying it.

The pattern on tergites is distinctive

Ahh, good call - I should have known - I catch quite a few here but I don't get to see them in-life much. The abdomen colour/dusting is very distinctive when you get them under the right light :)
