Dear forum users,

best wishes to all, this is my first post in this forum.
The 3,5-4mm fly shown below I found in my garden, SW-Germany, river rhine valley, 40 kms south of Mainz.
There is just this one rear view existing, because I saw this animal only once for a few seconds.
I would be glad about any info concerning possible taxa.
Thanks in advance for taking a look at this.

Best regards,

Thorsten Rder

Picture does not appear. Did you remove all spaces from the file name?

Jeroen, you were much too fast :) (or maybe this warning was created automatically), however, now it should be visible...

From the pattern, I would say Calythea nigricans (Anthomyiidae).

Thanks a lot, Stephane, for your answer!
So, it seems, as if this fly is not seen very often.

Best regars,
