Can anyone help identify this fly which was observed climbing onto a female Vapourer Moth and investigating her eggs. Is it a parasitoid?

Thanks,
Sandy

Looks like an anthomyiid to me. I don't know of any that are moth egg predators or parasitoids.

Thanks Tony. It was interesting behaviour which unfortunately I had to leave as my time was limited. I wish I'd been able to observe for longer and maybe figure out what the fly's intentions had been.
