Can anyone help with the ID of this Ctenophora species from Sherwood Forest in Notts, taken early July 2009. From photos I've seen, it looks like C. ornata, but it's UK range makes me doubt this. Unfortunately the photograph was taken whilst in a container. Wish I had photographed it in the field at the time now. It was released back on site, from a recently clear-felled area, which had contained mature Beech, Birch and only left a few dead ancient Oaks. Any help much appreciated, as I am relatively new to Diptera.

Trevor.

Google 'Ctenophora Oosterbroek' and you'll find an excellent (or rather: superb) key.
