Hello,

can anyone help me to identify this fly. I found it on September, 12. in Switzerland.
The location was a meadow near a forest. The size of the fly is around 5mm.
Thank you.

Urs

Chloropidae. There are several very similar genera with lots of species showing this general pattern, so you may not get a closer id.

This is a Chlorops, there are actually not many chloropid genera having this kind of yellow-black general appearance.

But this is a difficult genus even under a microscope, so you'll rarely attain species-level here in this group.
