22/08/2010, garden (on Laurus nobilis), Essen, Belgium. I have no idea about family, let alone genus or species. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I kept the specimen, so additional pictures can be made up if needed.

I looked through the Gallery. Could it be Sylvicola (Anisopodidae) and is species possible?

Thanks, Mark! It looks like a difficult key, but I will try it out.

I arrive at 9 (I would appreciate if someone could check I didn't make any obvious mistakes), but I have no possibility to check genitalia (anyway, I think this is a female). That leaves us with Sylvicola zetterstedti and S. baechlii. According to Fauna Europaea, only the first one is present in Belgium. Is S. baechlii expected for Belgium? Thanks in advance!

I'd go to the next couplet, no. 10, with fenestralis and cinctus...

Thanks Paul, but in that case it is over for me. Is it 50/50 between the two species, or is one of the two more plausible?

Nope.
