I found this pretty couple near a river in the rainforests of Brazil close to Paraty, 15th January 2010.
Someone has an idea of its id. ?
Thanks!
Myriam :)

That looks indeed very similar Paqui! The legs match very well, only that the eyes on mine are green, but the colour can vary with the lightangle I guess..
Thanks!:)

Hi Myriam,

Did you see the suggestion at the bottom of the link which paqui gave? Ptecticus trivittatus... which looks very close!

http://bugguide.n...21/bgimage

A google with 'brasil' brings up a lot of links, including a pdf or HTML view of keys.

Hi Janet!:)

You're right the suggestion of Ptecticus trivittatus had escaped me!
The pic on Bugguide looks very close too indeed, only the hind leg doesn't seem to match, On my first pic the hind leg (apart of the thigh) of the male is black with a white 'foot' while it does has that on Paqui's picture..

The second link didn't work but I can try to get it another way..
Thanks!
Myriam:)

The link works for me, I google the name with 'brasil' included.

There are a lot of species though! I don't know how many are in Brazil.
