Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Stratiomyidae?

My first post in this forum. I became interested in flies through photography. I like to make macro-photo's and so I meet all sorts of insects (generally in my backyard). Most of them I can identify, but diptera is giving me some trouble.
This one I can't find in my books or elsewhere. I met him/her a view days ago in my backyard. I live in a village in the Dutch countryside. There is some open water nearby. I think it's one of the Stratiomyidae. Am I right?

Welcome to the Forum Jan - great photo. It does look like a start to my untrained eyes but I'm sure someone will be along to give a better ID than me :)

I even think, looking at the photo's, that it's the
Loxocera sylvatica.

Loxocera sylvatica as sylvatica has a yellow/brown humeri. scutellum is not yellow, so not l.
nigrifrons. One can't really see the head details to separate the other species. My gut feeling is for
L. albiseta.
