Physocephalas are fascinating flies, but for determination a frontal view of the face is needed (not easy to get, I also often tried in vain!). The colouration of the frons and and the shape of the black facial stripe are decisive. See the keys given by Stuke (

Physocephala genus is the most difficult among all conopidae family. This photo is not enough to be sure on the ID.

Many thanks you all for detailed answers. I not often had to photograph Conopidae and your councils will be very useful to a choice of foreshortenings of photographing of these flies.
