Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinidae, Hungary -> Linnaemya sp.

Hello!

I have spotted this robust Tachinid at forest edge, Bakony Hills, West Hungary in 20-06-2010. Only this photo was taken, nevertheless I hope you could tell me some about the species.

Looks like a Linnaemya sp. again (densely hairy eyes, pale basicosta - and it will have a projecting mouth edge) ... but one of the dark-legged species that cannot be identified without specimens. The key depends on several features that can't be photographed on living specimens, such as the bristles on the back of the head, colour of hairs on sternite-1 and other fiddly bits :)

Was it quite large - like >10mm?
