Hi,
Two days ago I watched several Miltogramminae flies, they are lovely little ones. How can I discriminate between Miltogramma and Senotainia - is there any jizz? I think these two are Miltogramma, but do they belong to the same species?
Many thanks for help, Sundew

# 2 (M. punctata?)

Both specimens are very likely Miltogramma punctata (assuming you have caught them in Germany).

Miltogramma can be recognised because the vibrissal bristles are rather week.

Surely these are German flies; I live in Berlin, as you know. (If I post photos from outside Berlin, I give the locality.) However, they were caught by the camera only! May they live long and happy.
Your remark on the weak vibrissae of Miltogramma is very helpful! I shall keep it in mind. Many thanks for all help, I appreciate it.
Best wishes, Sundew
