If you see the black 'M' on a fly like this, translate it to latin 'm-nigrum', which is a Desmometopa species. All European species of Desmometopa have the black 'M' on the frons. But I can't see which species this is. Does it have light (D. m-nigrum) or dark halters (D. sordida)?
