Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Helina?

Hi,
Yesterday evening I saw many grey flies sitting on the ripening panicles of the abundant
Calamagrostis epigeios. According to the black abdomen marks I consider them
Helina. Can be said more? The pictures show the same individual.

Female Helina on photos feels always like Russian roulette..
Crossveins seems infuscated, arista long haired, prealar very short, 2+2 katepisternals and on one side 4 dc and on the other side 3dc ? ....maybe Helina confinis

Many thanks, Joke, you did your best (as always :)). These little ones were so numerous, it would have been easy to take pictures also of a slim male. However, for technical reasons the fat females seemed to be better depictable by the camera. Now I know - males are needed...
